Suboxone is not an ordinary drug that tends to show up in any common drug test. To identify the presence of suboxone, a special 12 panel drug test is required which can pick out the traces of this drug only when taken by the individual very frequently.

Suboxone can mimic some similar effects of opioids but it does not show up on the dreg test.

One has taken it as a part of treatment to get rid of the addiction to opioid drugs.

In this article, we’ll go through the full details about Suboxone, its uses, side effects, visibility on the drug tests, etc.

SUBOXONE

The amalgamation of Buprenorphine and Naloxone is sold under the label Suboxone. It is approved by the Food and Drug Administration(FDA), which is helpful in treating addiction to opioids and also gives relief from pain.

Buprenorphine(BUP) is an antagonist- agonist combination. It mimics some of the effects of an opioid drug along with this it prevents the craving and eases the symptoms of the drugs. It is very effective and friendly in treating addictions to drugs.

It is also helpful in restoring the normal functioning of the brain and prevents it from going back to the relapse condition.

Then again, naloxone is an opioid antagonist that entirely negates the effects of opioids. It is added to the medicine buprenorphine to avoid abuse because buprenorphine shares some characteristics with opioids.

If you are consuming Suboxone as treatment then always remember not to stop its use on your own. Always take this medicine as prescribed by the doctor because not doing so can cause a number of withdrawal symptoms. Some of the symptoms are as follows:

  • Vomiting
  • Pain in muscles
  • Anxiety
  • Teary eyes
  • Uncomfortableness
  • Sweating

What is Suboxone used for?

As discussed in the first heading, Suboxone is an opioid addiction-preventing medicine taken during the treatment, by people who are compulsive of opioid use.

It is very useful during the withdrawal phase as it has some features of opioids(in buprenorphine) which controls the hunger for drugs during the induction phase. But some other uses of Suboxone are present as well, like-

  • It helps in the treatment of chronic pain
  • Gives relaxation to the mind
  • Helps in treating depression.

List of some reactions caused by Suboxone.

If you have gone through the treatment in which Suboxone is present, then one can experience reactions from mild to moderate. Some of them are as follows-

Mild reactions

  1. Nausea
  2. Headache
  3. Depression
  4. Body pain
  5. Fatigue

Moderate reactions

  1. Allergic reaction
  2. Imbalance of hormone
  3. The patient may go into a coma
  4. Can also get addicted to it.

Can Suboxone be visible on the drug tests?

After the successful treatment for drug addiction, most people are concerned about the detection or showing up of suboxone’s presence on certain drug tests, compulsory for joining a job. But there is no need to worry because it will not show up naturally on a drug test.

Most of the drug tests will only show the drug presence that has been used in the last 1 to 4 days with exceptions as well.

The presence of Suboxone will only appear on a particular test that is done specifically for BUPE or Naloxone which comes under a 12-panel drug test. These tests are specially designed to identify the use and amount of intake of certain drugs.

And if this is the case and you will be subject to a 12-panel drug test, there is no need to freak out. Instead, you should inform the technician administering the test so that you may avoid any potential future problems.

Is Suboxone registered under Controlled Drugs?

As per the Controlled Substance Act, Suboxone falls into the schedule III drugs, as it can cause mimic opioids and euphoria however the effect will be very less but still it can act as a potential substitute for opioids if taken in excess.

Only certified and trained doctors can give the prescription of suboxone. There is also a special law for doctors who are newly graduated and are in their 1st year of job and the law is that they can not treat more than 30 patients with BUP.

Summary

Suboxone will not be shown up on any ordinary drug test. Only a specially called test under 12-panel drug test can detect its presence.
